Anxiety Therapy in Ontario
Virtual across Ontario, in person in London
Anxiety can feel like an internal alarm that rarely fully turns off. Sometimes it shows up as overthinking and planning. Sometimes it shows up as panic sensations, tension, irritability, or a need to control everything around you.
Therapy can help you understand what your anxiety is protecting you from and build new ways to respond when it shows up.
What anxiety may look like
-
racing thoughts, mental rehearsals, constant what ifs
-
panic sensations, fear of losing control, fear of embarrassment
-
trouble sleeping, waking up tense, jaw clenching, tight chest
-
perfectionism, people pleasing, difficulty saying no
-
reassurance seeking, checking, second guessing decisions
-
avoidance that slowly shrinks life and limits choice
Anxiety is not a personal failure. It is often a pattern your nervous system learned for a reason.
How we work with anxiety (3 step process)
Understand the cycle
We map what triggers anxiety, what keeps it going, and what you do to get relief in the short term that makes it worse later.
Build steady tools
We use practical strategies for calming the body, reducing spirals, and responding differently to anxious thoughts without fighting them.
Create real change
We work on boundaries, self trust, and gradual exposure to what anxiety has been steering you away from, at a pace you can sustain.

Steve Sunseth
MSW, RSW, NARM Therapist, EMDR Practitioner
I am a registered social worker and psychotherapist (MSW, RSW) and the founder of Anxiety and Trauma Clinic of Ontario. My approach is structured, trauma informed, and paced. Many people I work with live with anxiety that is not just about worrying, it is about carrying too much for too long, staying on alert, or feeling responsible for everyone else’s comfort.
In sessions, we focus on understanding your anxiety pattern and building skills that hold up in real life. You can expect a collaborative process, clear next steps, and regular check-ins about what is helping. If anxiety is connected to earlier experiences or attachment dynamics, we can work with that carefully, without forcing you into anything you are not ready for.
Do you work with panic attacks?
Yes. We focus on understanding the panic cycle, reducing fear of the sensations, and changing the avoidance patterns that keep panic sticky.
Is this CBT only
Not necessarily. CBT tools can help, and we may also use trauma informed approaches, nervous system regulation, and attachment informed work depending on what fits.
How long does therapy take
It varies. Some people want focused short term work. Others want deeper pattern change. We can start with a clear first phase and review as we go.
Can we start virtually and switch to in person
Often, yes, depending on availability and what works best for your schedule and comfort.
What if I have tried therapy before and it did not help
That is common. We will look at what did not work, what you needed at the time, and build a plan that is more specific and practical.
